Could Disclosure Re-Enchant the Universe?
In an Election Day episode, Danny Sheehan considers what the next Congress could mean for UFO disclosure, walks through the Pentagon’s seventh file release, and argues that disclosure will unsettle science’s materialist worldview.
Sheehan recorded this episode for Election Day, and he opens by stating NPI’s position plainly: as a 501(c)(3), it takes no side in any race. His interest is structural. The Congress that convenes in January will choose the committee leaders who decide how hard to push the executive branch for UAP records, including whether to use the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena power. NPI intends to ask the committee’s leadership, whoever holds it, to keep the UAP portfolio with Rep. Eric Burlison and to use that power. Before then, members return November 9 to finish the defense bill that carries the House-passed version of the UAP Disclosure Act.
He then turns to the Department of War’s seventh release of UAP files, posted October 23. It includes a report from three federal agents of a fast-moving black triangle near a secure federal facility, and a December 2008 planning document prepared for Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies, the contractor behind the Pentagon’s AAWSAP program. That plan, known as Project Capella, called for a 5,000-square-foot underground vault so the contractor could “pursue and acquire recovered hardware and biological samples,” including in Brazil. An appendix reproduces the 2002 sealed affidavit of Walter Haut, the Roswell base’s public information officer in 1947, describing a craft and two small bodies in a guarded hangar. The affidavit’s text has been public since 2007, and critics note that Haut did not draft it himself; Sheehan’s point is that a federal agency has now published it. He also notes that President Trump, asked about the files in a Newsmax interview, said, “We are releasing everything.”
The second half is an essay on what he calls the re-enchantment of the universe. In his account, disclosure threatens the materialist worldview that has dominated Western thought since Newton’s Principia in 1687, a picture already strained by the quantum physics of the 1920s. The 1995 discovery of 51 Pegasi b, the first planet found orbiting a Sun-like star, moved scientists toward accepting that life elsewhere is likely. Sheehan, who served as counsel to Harvard psychiatrist John Mack during the university’s 1994 to 1995 review of Mack’s work, describes how the encounter accounts Mack gathered attributed to the beings abilities long associated with saints and avatars. That, he argues, is why disclosure keeps opening onto questions of religion, spirituality and human origins, and why NPI’s work is aimed at a new paradigm that neither returns to old religious frameworks nor stays inside scientific materialism.

It’s not going to be a duplicate of the old religious scholasticism, but it’s going to transcend the scientific materialist worldview. It is going to be a new paradigm.
